Classic Wings - Omaka 2007

I think everyone who went to Omaka for the Classic Fighters airshow had a great Easter weekend and even the weather cooperated. Simon took the opportunity to get airborne with the P40N Kittyhawk for some air to air pictures. Copies of these are available from Gavin Conroy, Classic Aircraft Photography (Telephone +64 027220 3573 or email gavinconroy@xtra.co.nz)

For those who attended and would like photos Gavin Hadfield of Langwoods Photography in Blenheim took some great shots (below) of many of the aircraft displaying. Copies can be obtained from (Langwoods Photo Centre, 75 Queen Street, Blenheim, Ph (03) 5788887 or 021 1084 610).

The photographs below are courtesy of Gavin.

Thanks to everyone who entered pictures in the Wings over new Zealand Aviation Forum photo competition and thanks again for your permission to replicate them here, there are some great shots.

Awarded first place was this wonderful shot of Tigers Blood on the ground at Wanaka in the South Island of New Zealand taken by Glen Alderton (for more photos by Glen visit http://www.warbirdz.net/photogs.php). Glen posted a number of other shots that deserve a mention and I will be adding some of these to the site in the near future.

SportAvex - Tauranga (5th Feb 2006)

We had a few late nights prior to flying down to Tauranga getting Tigers Blood ready and respectable for the show. A week and a half before the event the engine was still sitting on the bench! But thanks to a lot of effort from a lot of people everything came together to get us down to Tauranga (and look at that shine...)

The first picture is the Kiwi Thunder team with Tom Poberezny the President of the EAA and his wife.

And finally a lot of people have been asking me about the reduction gearbox in the Thunder Mustang so for the technically minded here are a couple of shots of the inside of the 2.8:1 reduction gearbox. Full technical details can be found on the Thunder Mustang home site.

Pacific Wings (Coromandal), May 2005.

After 3 days waiting for a break in the weather we finally had something of a clearance, there was still quite a lot of cloud but certainly worth taking the chance for another photo shoot. In reality the towering clouds made a perfect backdrop for Rob Neil of Pacific Wings to get the pictures he wanted. Once again our camera-ship was the Nanchang CJ6 piloted by Richard (Dickie) Veale. TMG was flown by Bryan Gault.
